General Information
- Research Topics
Inflammation is a central mechanism in the most relevant neurological diseases,
namely stroke, multiple sclerosis, brain trauma as well as meningitis, and
contributes to the generation of pain. We are now beginning to understand the
impact of the immune system on different nervous system functions and diseases,
ranging from damage through tolerance to modulation and repair.
>>
- Academic affiliation and
recruitment of students
The students will be enrolled in the "International Masters - MD/PhD Program
in Medical Neurosciences", which covers the wide spectrum of the
neurosciences.
>>
- Teaching activities and concept of training
The Graduate School tutors are, for the most part, also active in the Medical
Neuroscience program. Therefore, it will be necessary to coordinate courses,
seminars, and tests.
>>
- Integration into Berlin
neuroscience structures
Berlin has a large and active neuroscience scene. This becomes obvious at our
regular BNF (Berlin Neuroscience Forum) meeting which attracts more than 200
participants and has been initiated by members of the Charité. The Charité
follows a policy of offering young, promising investigators independent
research possibilities.
